Lindsay McCarter is a clinical social worker and proud Louisiana native. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University, followed by her Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina. After completing her graduate work, Lindsay began her career as a therapist at The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health, while also providing therapeutic services to teens in the foster care system at a local children’s home. She continued to grow through serving as clinical director in both the outpatient and inpatient psychiatric settings. Throughout her career, Lindsay has held firm to the belief that truly purposeful work is found wherever the need is greatest, and that no task is beneath someone who is committed to a life of serving others.
In her therapeutic work, Lindsay focuses on helping clients develop practical, effective strategies they can apply to their daily lives, while attaining a deeper understanding of themselvesand what this world means to them. Her style is rooted in a cognitive-behavioral foundation, using acceptance and commitment therapy as a central approach, with heavy leanings toward mindfulness-based practices and existential explorations.
Outside of her work (and occasionally in!), Lindsay is a lover of all-things horror, home-baked desserts and milkshakes, and the miraculously healing power of music. She finds joy in the slower, simple, yet immensely meaningful moments of life. Think of the way a warm breeze feels on your face, the spiritual nature of working the soil with your hands, or the delicate way the afternoon sun shines through a window. These gifts are all around us, we just have to slow down and pay attention. Lindsay believes that every human has a sacred soul, deserving of peace and fulfillment, and she can’t wait to meet yours!
